Little Library on the Lake to open

Little Library on the Lake is set to open for its first full season at Lakeview Park in Lorain. It will be open Tuesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. from June through August.

Though called a library, it offers games, educational activities, and sporting equipment for all ages, provided with support from Lorain County Public Health and the State Library of Ohio. All items are available to check out, for free, using your LPLS library card.

“In addition to all of the games and sporting equipment available for loan, we will also be having one scheduled program a week from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays,” Outreach Director Nick Cronin said. “There’s no registration required for these, we really just want people to show up and be active.”

In addition, the Little Library on the Lake provides free WiFi access to a range of about 100 to 150 yards depending on the device type.

The structure itself is a 20-foot cargo container refurbished by the Rustbelt Welding Company out of Cleveland to now have a sliding entry door, wood floor, wall paneling and skylights made from boat hatches. The exterior wrap was done by ProAuto Wraps out of Wadsworth.

Little Library on the Lake is a collaboration between Lorain Public Library System, Lorain County Metro Parks and the City of Lorain. For a full list of programs and available equipment, visit LorainPublicLibrary.org.
