Help improve your childís reading skills with songs!

Singing is an easy way to interact with your children and it helps support early literacy in a variety of ways. Singing helps children develop vocabulary by introducing them to new words that they donít often hear in everyday conversations. Singing slows language down, which allows children to hear how sounds come together to form words Ė a skill imperative to learning how to read.

Sing with your children any chance you get. Donít worry if you donít have a Grammy Award-winning voice, your children just want to see you having fun and being silly!

Need some inspiration? Borrow CDs from the Library or access FREE streaming and music downloads from Freegal and hoopla. Call 419.259.5200 or any location for help getting started. We are also happy to put together a bundle of books that encourage singing.

Our weekly virtual storytimes usually have some catchy tunes and you can sing along! Visit toledolibrary.org to see whatís coming up next.
