LCCC hosts Career Fair: Lorain County Community College will hold its annual Lorain County Career Fair from noon to 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the Spitzer Conference Center and the Norton Culinary Arts Center on campus.


Attendees can meet employers and make connections with more than 100 companies. All are welcome to the event, sponsored by LCCC Career Services, Lorain County JVS, Lorain County Urban League and OhioMeansJobs. Career coaching and resume assistance is available through partner organizations.

LCCC hosts STEAM Maker Summer Camps: Lorain County Community College will host STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) Maker summer camps through College for Kids and Teens. All camps for elementary and middle school students run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily at LCCC’s Patsie C. and Dolores Jeneé Campana Center for Ideation and Invention. Camps for high school students run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday (no Friday sessions). All camps are for students entering the grades listed.


The curriculum for grades 3–12 is infused with creativity, digital fabrication technologies, indoor and outdoor activities all working together to inspire innovative ideas and an inventor’s mindset. Camps are grouped by grade and guided by an incredible staff of artists, educators, makers, technicians and college students. The low camper/staff ratio of 1:4 provides each camper with the support they need to take on individual and group art, technology, science and outdoor activities.


Cosmic Camp: Explore outer space through arts, STEM and outdoor activities. Design, build and fly your own rocket, moon buggy and more using traditional art and making materials as well as Fab Lab technologies including laser cutters, vinyl cutters and 3D printers.

Press/Print Camp: Build skills, use your imagination, and explore digital fabrication and printmaking technologies. Build an “art bot,” use a vinyl cutter to make a decal, design and print your own t-shirt, and create original 2D art prints/posters.  Projects use traditional art materials and incorporate Fab Lab technologies like laser cutters, CNC routers and 3D printers.

Rosie’s Girls For Girls (Grades 6, 7 and 8): Create and build individual and group STEAM projects in a safe and girl-centered environment while working with role models in diverse career fields.  Practice the skills of designers, engineers, carpenters and welders, and learn about Fab Lab technologies.

Session 1: Rosie’s Girls Build!, July 8 – 12

Create and build your own art/carpentry project to take home and a design and build a “Little Library” with a group of other Rosie’s Girls.

Session 2: Rosie’s Girls II!, July 15 – 19

Solder an art/sculpture project, learn about drones, and use carpentry skills to design, build and wire a lamp/lantern. Includes a field trip to Lorain County Joint Vocational School on Wednesday, July 17.


Google Cardboard Virtual Reality Camp: Build your own Google Cardboard virtual reality viewer from cardboard. Then create a panoramic virtual reality environment using just a smart phone and technology.

Cost is $225 per week for all camps. A limited number of full and partial scholarships are available for each camp.
