LCCC Hosts Black Balloon Day Event: Lorain County Community College’s Care Center and Care Club will hold a memorial program in honor of national Black Balloon Day at noon on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 near the fountain in the college courtyard. The program will honor those whose loved ones have died due to opioid overdose.

Guest speaker Elaine Georgas, executive director of Lorain County ADAS Board, will speak on the opioid crisis in Lorain County and beyond. Attendees will be able to take home black balloons to display outside their homes. Those who have lost a loved one are encouraged to bring a photo.

LCCC’s NEO LaunchNET Hosts ideaLabs Business Competition: NEO LaunchNET, Lorain County Community College’s entrepreneurial-launching program will host their annual business competition, ideaLabs from 1-4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6 in room 122 of The Nord Advanced Technologies Center (AT122).

“All LCCC students, regardless of major, are invited to participate in this event,” said NEO LaunchNET program director Janice Lapina.“Students can present a business idea by themselves or as part of a team (up to five people) before a panel of judges for the opportunity to win cash prizes of $1000 (first place), $500 (second place) and $250 (third place).”

The winning team will then advance to the ideaLabs regional business competition, where they will have the opportunity to win almost $6000 in cash prizes.

NEO LaunchNET at LCCC opened its doors to students November 17, 2015. NEO LaunchNET is located in PC113 of The Patsie C. and Dolores Jeneé Campana Center for Ideation and Invention. Since 2012, out of more than 1000 students, 500 explored their venture and created more than 50 companies in Lorain County. NEO LaunchNET is supported by the Burton D. Morgan Foundation.


LCCC Holds College for Kids and Teens Classes: Registration is open for Lorain County Community College’s College for Kids and Teens spring classes beginning March 16. This year-round program gives students the opportunity to learn new skills and to explore their interests in an exciting, hands-on environment. College for Kids and Teens can also develop specialized programs to meet the needs of a community group or organization.

LCCC Hosts Bridal Show: Lorain County Community College’s Conferencing Services and the Lorain County Commissioner's Office will host the Happily Ever After Bridal Show from noon to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday March 10 at the Spitzer Conference Center.

The event will feature dozens of vendors geared to help brides and grooms find resources and get new ideas to plan the weddings of their dreams. There will also be prizes and giveaways for attendees, a fashion show and food samples. Register by March 1 to guarantee a free tote filled with wedding swag.
