The free FireFish Festival features a wide array of
multicultural; inventive visual art installations; fire
performers; and the musical procession of the Firefish,
culminating in a pyrotechnic eruption on Black River Landing.
FireFish Festival programming
highlights include: Main stage performances by Sammy DeLeón y
Su Orquesta; Lorain record company Global Execs’ emerging
young artists: pop singer Ejavien, 13, nominated for a
Grammy in 2017, R&B and pop singer Hanna Lurry, whose
current release hit number 2 on the UK charts recently, and soul
singer Casanova; renown percussion group Drumplay;
and Indian music and dance by Sanjib Bhattacharya and
Anga Kala Kathak Academy and Nandani
A broad variety of multicultural dance from the Trutek Dance
Company, the Bareketh Dancers, Alysia Ramos, NEOS Dance Theatre,
Royalty African Dance, and Alma De México; opera from
the Cleveland Opera Theatre; theatre from LatinUs
Theatre; acrobatics from Oberlin Circus; and music
from pop rock band Master T.C. and the Visitors, and
indie artist Anthony Jones.
This year, the parade and burning of the fish will interact with
the community with a theme of release or letting go of
the stresses, conflicts, negative relationships or old habits
that hold us back with the public invited to bring paper items
that will burn in the fiery finale.
